Dojoku Martial Arts
The dojo is an excellent place for children to learn about respect, self discipline, and patience.  Our evening classes for children incorporate physical exercise, self defense training, and character development.  Each child under the age of 13 learns a specific character trait at every belt level that they must apply in their lives at home and at school.  In the children’s program your child will experience working with others, overcoming adversity, how to deal with bullying, and the importance of setting goals and achieving them.

Patience – White Belt Having the inner strength to remain calm. We associate this word with the White Belt, because you will need patience as a beginner. Self-Control – Yellow Belt Having the power to restrain one’s actions. We associate this word with the Yellow Belt, because you will begin sparring at this level and you will need to use and understand the meaning of self control. Concentration - Orange Belt Having the ability to give your full attention towards your goal. We associate this word with Orange Belt because you should be able to concentrate on all tasks at hand in school, at home and the dojo. It take great concentration to maintain all the techniques you must learn and remember in your intermediate and advanced belt ranks. Respect - Green Belt Showing importance to one’s self and others We associate this word with Green Belt because you should be showing respect to everyone in your life including yourself. At this level disrespect is considered a major issue and is looked at for belt testing. You should always show courtesy and respect to classmates, friends, family and Instructors and higher rank students by addressing them as Sir or Ma’am. Commitment - Blue Belt Having a goal and the ability to achieve or complete that goal. We associate this word with the Blue Belt because you are now at a stage where you need to focus on breaking down your techniques, getting ready for the advanced ranks and remember the commitment you made to yourself to reach your Black Belt. NEVER GIVE UP! Responsibility - 1st Brown Belt Being accountable for one’s actions. We associate this word with 1st Brown Belt because you are now an assistant instructor, and with teaching you must show responsibility in everything you do. Teaching others is a great responsibility, to make sure YOU know your stuff and be able to answer questions of younger belts and to be the example of what TO DO instead of what NOT to do. Modesty - 2nd Brown Belt Being humble and not bragging about one’s self. We associate this with 2nd Brown Belt because as a future Black Belt you must be humble and show modesty in everything you do and show the inner strength to spar at all levels as to “teach” the lower ranks. Integrity - 3rd Brown Belt Always be honest , sincere, trustworthy and fair in everything you do and say. We associate this word with 3rd Brown Belt because you are now approaching Black Belt and must uphold the qualities of a good Black Belt and be the example of what is expected of a Black Belt while you lead the class and be able to relate this qualities into all aspects of your daily life. Leadership - 1st Degree Black Belt Lead with passion and excellence inside and outside the school. We associate this word with Black Belt because you are about to achieve the most highly recognized belt in the martial arts, and you now have the skills, ability, and knowledge to excel at anything you do! You should also have a sense of oneness with yourself as you come full circle and show the passion to take the next step into teaching others as you continue to learn.
